One of the hottest drag queens in Brazil, Halessia collects experiences inside and outside the country. The performer took advantage of the conversation with the With you! “On Halloween 2014, I decided it was the perfect night to explore the world of drag. I remember

I scraped together what I had, gathering borrowed makeup, improvised clothes, and a random wig. When I looked in the mirror I almost didn’t recognize myself. Riding out was like opening the door to a part of me that had never been revealed. The feeling was of freedom, I discovered that this universe would be my new home.”

He faced a great challenge in his career:

“When I moved to Sao Paulo, I only had 300 reais and a dream. It was a huge challenge, but also the most important decision of my life. I arrived with a heart full of hope, willing to face any obstacle. Every day It was a battle, but every result, no matter how small, proved that I was on the right path.”

He had international experience.

“In the new year of 2017 I left for London. The city had its splendor, and walking through the illuminated streets, in the cold of January, was like living a dream. It was my first time out of the country, and the feeling Being there showed me how big the world was and full of possibilities.”

Gay discovered:

“I used to dance Ragatanga as my mother, wrapped in a sheet and with a towel on my head. It was an innocent game, but looking back, I realize that it was the first time I felt free to be me myself, without judgment, I discovered a part of myself that would continue to grow.”

There was a jump:

“Walking into one of those huge shoe stores, I found a size 15 peep toe, platform heel, in my size and at an affordable price. It was love at first sight. I wore those heels for a year straight, feeling more higher, more confident and fully empowered.”

Lived without parents:

“Moving to a republic of São Paulo and being the only gay person in the house was a shock. It was the first time I felt responsible for everything, from bills to small daily chores. It was an intense learning experience, but It helped me grow and better understand who I was.”

He invented a famous character:

“When Pabllo Vittar came to my little room in the Republic to have his makeup done by me, it was really amazing. We did a live show showing the process. Having the chance to collaborate with someone so iconic gave me the strength to continue invest in my work.”

I went on an international red carpet:

“Being at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, for the premiere of The Idol, was surreal. Walking the red carpet, surrounded by flash and glamour, made me feel part of a universe I have always admired.”

Parade in Paris:

“I was the first Brazilian drag queen to show at Paris Fashion Week, for the Windowsen brand. Showing was a dream come true, something that seemed impossible. Knowing that I represented Brazil and the LGBTQIA+ community was an immense source of pride. “

Dated:

“At the age of 24, I had my first relationship. It was a time of discovery, learning about love, partnership and the ups and downs of sharing your life with someone. This experience taught me a lot about who I was and what I wanted for the future.”
