Many are sure that it was Meghan Markle who forever changed the aristocratic rules of the world. In fact, Europe’s first black princess appeared long before Megan. She also went through many hardships!

11 years older than her husband! What the first African-American princess, whose style was inspired by Meghan Markle, looks like

Since marrying Prince Harry, Meghan Markle has been the most talked about person in the world. It seems that no one was indifferent to her: some loved her, while others hated her fiercely. After all, British princes had never married American commoners before. Yes, even with African-American roots and a failed marriage behind him!

However, Megan knew what she was getting into. And she remembered the story of another African-American woman – the chosen one of Austrian Prince Maximilian of Liechtenstein.

In 2000, Panamanian-American Angela Brown became the first black princess. Notice how similar Megan and Angela’s wedding dresses are. Markle was clearly inspired by the style of her predecessor!

Angela is 11 years older than her husband – she walked down the aisle at 43. This fact alone turned future parents against her.

Brown has lived in New York for most of her life. Here she studied as a designer and opened her own clothing brand. And in 1997, during a private party, she met Maximilien. Soon the whole world already knew this couple…

The Prince of Liechtenstein realized that marrying Angela could greatly change his life. Many representatives of the royal dynasty were adamantly opposed to the prince’s union with a dark-skinned, unprivileged foreigner over 40 – and called their relationship “the end of an era”.

Nevertheless, Maximilian’s father, the reigning Prince of Liechtenstein Hans-Adam II, supported his son and personally attended the wedding. After the celebration, Angela received the title of princess, as well as the title of countess of Rietberg.

A year and a half later, Angela and Maximilian had a son, Alfonso.

Today, the couple lives in Germany. From time to time, the princess attends ceremonies with her son. Nothing more is known about the royal family. Angela and Maximilian avoid public attention and quite often go to rest in their native Panama, contributing to the development of tourism in the country.
