Silvio Santos’ widow, Íris Abravanel, and his daughters Cintia, Silvia, Patrícia, Renata, Rebeca and Daniela Beyruti have filed a lawsuit against the State of São Paulo for not paying the R$17 million in Causa Mortis and Donation Transmission Tax (ITCMD). The amount is necessary to have access to the introducer’s accounts abroad.

According to the column F5from the Folha de S. Paulothe businessman allegedly left R$429.9 million in these accounts. Of the amount, approximately R$428 million is held by Daparris Corp Ltd, a Bahamas-based institution.

In addition to the amounts, they will inherit a debt of 10 million reais, resulting from loans taken out by Silvio Santos before his death.

The heirs believe that the accusation is unfair, since the sums do not comply with Brazilian legislation and are located abroad. The family also tried to have the trial, which began on December 13 last year, take place in secret, which was denied. on the 16th of that month.

With the subpoena to the State of São Paulo, the prosecutor Paulo Gonçalves da Costa Júnior expressed amazement at the values in a tax haven.

“Senor Abravanel was a very well-known person whose assets and known economic activities were located in Brazil, causing surprise and strangeness that the majority of his inheritance is attributed to some corporate interest in an ‘entity’ based in Paradise tax of the Bahamas, the existence of which was hitherto unknown to the public,” the prosecutor said.

There is no date yet, the State wants to set a conciliation hearing for a possible agreement between the parties. THE Earth reached out to SBT Communications, but did not receive a response until this article was published. The space remains open for demonstrations.
