From the diagnosis of cancer, in January 2023, Preta Gil had the support of a group of about 15 very intimate friends who took care of it during treatment. Soraya was one of those people and was even in the United States in the last phase of the treatment.

The make -up artist talked about the most difficult period together and his mourning. “It was three years of struggle, since you were a warrior, my friend! And we taught to be strong even at the time of pain. I sleep and agreement thinking about you, how will it be? The pain is overwhelming in my chest, compare with the good moments that lives by your side and were many! But, I understand the whole process and the purpose of life. God knows all things, go in peace!

Preta Gil was veiled at the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro in a ceremony open to the public and full of famous people who greeted the singer. So the body was cremated in an intimate ceremony in the cemetery and crematory of the Penitio, also in Rio, the same city where the singer was born, who served another request.
