Botafogo has opened negotiations to hire the striker Rafa Mir, currently connected to Seville. On 28 -year -old was lent to Valencia last season and was the goal of a formal proposal of the Rio Club, which sees the operation as a market opportunity. Mir is not in the Plans of Seville, who facilitated his departure and has a contract with the Spanish club until the middle of 2027.




Formed in the basic categories of Valencia, Rafa Mir made his debut for the main team in 2015. Subsequently, he had periods of Wolverhampton, Las Palmas, Nottingham Forest and Huesca, until he was purchased from Seville in 2021. At the Andaluz Club, he played 105 games and scored 24 goals. In the most recent season, he added 22 games, two goals and two assists for Valencia.

However, Mir’s name obtained the repercussion in September 2024, when he was arrested on charges of sexual aggression against two women. The episode would have occurred in his residence, after he and also the player Pablo Jara returned from a disco accompanied by complaints. According to the Spanish press, both needed hospital care and the case included accusations of physical and sexual violence.

Two days after detention, Rafa Mir was released to respond freely with respect for the precautionary measures. Among the obligations are the periodic presentation to the Court, the ban on leaving Spain, in addition to the order to maintain a minimum distance of 500 meters of the victims. The Spanish club Valencia, who had contracted him at the time, decided to apply internal sanctions.

In an official note, Valencia has announced the opening of a disciplinary process: “The club will open a cause against Rafa Mir, understanding that its way of proceeding, in its rest time, undoubtedly affects the professional performance that is expected as a player of this club”.

The attacker defended himself through a declaration published on social networks. In the text, he said: “After a period of reflection, I want to clarify my innocence. As soon as I was able to work with the accusations, the case gave an important turnover that shows how unfounded the complaint is.”

Also in the same statement, Mir strengthened his commitment to legal defense and took the apologies: “For all this, I want to express my most sincere and profound apologies to my club, the technical staff, my companions and fans of the Valacentist”.

Botafogo’s Board, who is looking for reinforcements for the offensive sector, detects the player as an option to provide the absence of central -Up in the cast. Currently, the club has only Arthur Cabral and Mastriani, the latter with a link until the end of the year.
