Ana Maria Braga makes a “curious gift” to Ackimin and the vice -president celebrates

During his participation in the “Mais Você” program, broadcast on Thursday morning (31), the vice -president Geraldo Alfmin took advantage of the space to comment on the new tariff policy of the United States, in particular the 50% rate announced by the former president Donald Trump on Brazilian products. Invited by Ana Maria Braga, ALLKmin also holds the position of Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services and has tried to clarify the practical impact of the commercial measures between the two countries.

ALCKmin used one of its recurring visual resources: themed socks. In this case, he opted for a couple with cups of cups and coffee beans, a product that is part of the list of articles subject to the new rate. Subsequently, Ana Maria presented him another couple, stamped with magical cubes, as well as a dining box full of savory day (chopsticks), a deference that the vice -president thanked the humor. “He has already saved my lunch,” he joked.

In a relaxed tone, the vice -president also referred to his medical training. “My specialty is anesthesia. I leave here, I go to Fiesp,” he said, pulling the laughter by the presenter. In the end, Ana Maria stressed: “To help you make magic with negotiations”, delivering the gift with the printing of the magic cube.

The conversation was informal, but has addressed relevant topics. According to ALCKmin, after intense negotiations with the US authorities, about 45% of Brazilian exports were free from the new rate, remaining under the previous rate of 10%, in force since April. Other sectors of 15% concern special rates such as steel, aluminum and vehicles. Therefore, the new supplement should only affect 35.9% of the export agenda of Brazil.

The vice -president stressed that the measure is, in his words, disproportionate, highlights the commercial balance in favor of the United States. “Of the ten products that export most for us, eight have a zero rate, it does not pay anything to enter Brazil. That’s why he is unfair,” he said, while enjoying the berries served in the program.

To the question on a possible direct intervention by President Lula in negotiations, ALCKmin replied that there is a will in dialogue, but he meditated: “The president’s conversation must be prepared, if I depended on the president Lula this conversation would have occurred yesterday, but we are already acting on different fronts”.

In the end, he recalled that, since the rates will enter into force only Wednesday (6 August), the products already on board will not be influenced, at least in this initial phase of commercial retaliation.
