The Brazilian Navy fines influencer Virginia Fonseca for driving a jet ski without a life jacket and without a boating license. The accident occurred over the weekend in Mangaratiba, on Rio de Janeiro’s Costa Verde. The confirmation was made following a complaint received on Monday (10/13).

The police station of the port authority of Itacuruçá (DelItacuruçá) received a complaint for the irregular operation of the vessel. Social media publications by Virginia and her friends motivated the complaint that led to the investigation.

According to the Metrópoles portal, during the tour, the influencer was with her friends Duda Freire and Lídia Souza, as well as her children. The group enjoyed the day at sea without using the safety equipment required by Brazilian maritime legislation.

The Navy identified several irregularities in the case: the water craft did not have adequate visual identification, was piloted by a person without a license and was carrying two passengers, all of whom did not have the mandatory life jackets.

The company that owns the vessel will be fined for three infringements, according to NORMAM-212/DPC. The sanctions will follow the Regulations of the Waterways Traffic Safety Law (RLESTA), established by Decree no. 2,596/1998, which provides for fines and other administrative sanctions.

Virginia will also receive a fine for erratic driving, according to information released by columnist Andrei Lara, of the newspaper O Dia, who obtained direct confirmation of the case from the Navy.

In an official statement, the Navy underlined the importance of navigation safety, highlighting the need for a valid boat driving license, the mandatory use of a life jacket and compliance with maritime safety regulations.
