Writer Peter Straub, author of horror books adapted for cinema, such as “Demon With An Angel Face” (1977) and “Ghost Stories” (1981), died on Sunday (4/9) at the age of 79. The death was confirmed by his daughter, Emma Straub, via an Instagram post.
The cause of death has not yet been formalized, but the New York Times spoke to the writer’s wife, Susan Straub, who told them the death was due to complications from a hip fracture.
Straub has written more than 30 books, including works of fiction, short story anthologies, novels and non-fiction books. In addition to “Ghost Stories”, one of his best known books, he is also remembered for his collaboration with author Stephen King.
Straub and King co-wrote the books “The Talisman” (1984) and “The Black House” (2001). Upon learning of his colleague’s death, Stephen King paid tribute on Twitter.
“It’s a happy day because ‘Fairy Tale’ [novo livro de King] it was published. It’s a sad day because my good friend and incredibly talented colleague and collaborator, Peter Straub, has passed away. Working with him was one of the great joys of my life “.
