Singer Gal Costa, 77, died on the morning of this Wednesday 9th. The information has been confirmed by the singer’s team and the cause of death is still unknown. Gal was one of MPB’s biggest voices.
The singer was recently operated on to remove a lump in her right nasal cavity and for this reason she left the stage on the advice of her doctor. It was one of the highlights of the Primavera Sound festival last weekend, but the show was canceled at the last minute.
The operation was performed in September, after the singer performed at Coala, another music festival in São Paulo. She didn’t return to perform later, but she had a tour scheduled for December and January.
