Actress Christina Applegate was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday (11/14). The event marked the actress’ first public appearance since announcing she is suffering from multiple sclerosis in 2021.

Applegate was supposed to receive the honor in 2020, but the pandemic delayed the ceremony. She announced her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis through a post on Twitter, during the filming of the third and final season of the series “Dial Amiga para Matar”.

Also attending the ceremony were Katey Sagal and David Faustino, who worked with Applegate on the series “Married… with Children,” a production that revealed his comedic talent. “You’re not alone. We’re all here,” said Sagal, who played her mother in the ’80s classic series, as she tried to contain her emotions about her.

Also present were actress Linda Cardellini and writer-producer Liz Feldman, both of “Disque Amiga para Matar”, Applegate’s latest work.

The disease-stricken actress took to the podium with the help of Sagal, who stood by her side during her speech. Applegate cried as she talked about her daughter, whom she thanked for her support.

“The most important person in this world is my daughter,” she said. “You are so beautiful, kind, intelligent and interesting. I am lucky enough to wake up every day and take you to school…thank you for supporting me through it all.”

Applegate also thanked her fans, saying “I love you guys so much.”

In an interview with Variety ahead of the ceremony, Applegate said filming the final season of “Dial to Kill” while battling multiple sclerosis was “as difficult as you might think.” The actress said she had to use a wheelchair to get to the set.

“I was diagnosed while we were working,” Applegate said. “I had to call everyone and say, ‘I have multiple sclerosis. Like, what the fuck!’ And then I have to learn – we all learn – what I would be able to do.”

The third season of “Dial Amiga para Matar” will premiere on November 17 on Netflix and will be Applegate’s first new project released after his illness announcement.

“People are going to see me as a disabled person for the first time, and it’s very difficult,” Applegate said, referring to her future public appearances, which are expected to include the series premiere on Nov. 15.

However, Applegate has already prepared its audience for it. Last month, he posted a photo of the different joints he was considering using on red carpets.

“Sticks are now part of my new normal,” Applegate wrote at the time.
