AMC+: the new streaming platform arrives in Brazil in 2023

News in sight! Streaming from the American pay channel AMC will arrive in Brazil in the second half of 2023, to compete with viewers of already established platforms in the country. Confirmation of the launch came via Alejandro Kember, the network’s vice president of distribution.

In an interview with the Argentine portal “Television”, Kember said that Brazil will be the first country in Latin America to have access to the channel’s application, which is called AMC+.

The executive added that the service will have four pillars of content available to cover different audiences, being the main difference between the other competitors.

“The proposition that the platform will have is four very clear content pillars: one is AMC, another is Jagger, another is Under, and the fourth is anime content… We intend to provide very good quality anime content, given how much this it’s also a very competitive and in-demand market,” Kember explained.

AMC+ offers shows like ‘Mad Men,’ ‘Dark Winds,’ ‘Moonhaven,’ plus the entire original ‘The Walking Dead’ franchise.

The streaming launch also takes advantage of the ending of the main series, made available in Brazil by Star+, to appeal to fans of the franchise. AMC will launch three spin-off series featuring characters from “The Walking Dead,” which will be exclusive to AMC+ in the country.

In addition, the AMC network is also responsible for the Shudder platform in the United States, aimed at horror productions, and is launching series from the literary universe of the writer Anne Rice, such as “Interview with the Vampire” and “Mayfair Witches”.

Currently, there are more than 60 streaming platforms on Brazilian soil, according to BB Media. Among the best known are Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, Disney+, Star+, Apple TV+, Paramount+, Lionsgate+ and Crunchyroll, but there are many other segmented niches.
