Erasmo has turned Roberta Close into a muse and together they are the protagonists of a scandal

The singer has always stood up for women and has not shown a fragile masculinity by collaborating with the most famous transsexual of the time

A Jovem Guarda heartthrob, standing 1.93m tall and with an instigating reputation for being naughty, Erasmo Carlos had the intimacy reported in celebrity magazines.

In 1984, the singer appeared on the cover of the popular “Manchete” alongside model Roberta Close, the first transsexual with celebrity status in Brazil.

Erasmo chose her as the muse for the video of ‘Dá um Close Nela’, which he composed. The beautiful carioca appears parading through the streets of Rio, personifying the perfect woman, and attracts the attention of all men.

The idol has always denied having written the song for Roberta, but the text has undeniable references to the trans.

“Super vitamin of reflexes, so complex for both sexes,” reads an excerpt, emphasizing transsexuality.

“If it weren’t for the gogó and the feet, my lens would enter his, with a woman’s toe, a ten,” he sings elsewhere, quoting male parts that transvestites and transsexuals cannot change.

In that effervescent decade, the media echoed the gossip that Erasmo and Roberta had a secret romance.

It would be the perfect duo against the taboo: a symbol of the alpha male and the most beautiful trans woman in the country.

Some publications even claimed that the diva would have been the pivot of a suicide attempt by Narinha, the prima donna of Tremendão.

The two denied any romantic involvement. In television interviews, Roberta Close said she had seen Erasmo a few times in her life, only on the occasion of work and social events.

Married to a European businessman, the model, now 57, lives in Switzerland. When you come to Brazil, you make a VIP presence at parties and take care of some press vehicles.

The now eternal Erasmo Carlos, who died aged 81 on Tuesday (22), was survived by his wife, Fernanda Pessoa.

He had three sons: Carlos Alexandre (died in a motorcycle accident, aged 40, in 2014), Gil Eduardo and Leonardo.
