Actors Ben Platt (“The Politician”) and Noah Galvin (“The Good Doctor”) are engaged. They shared the news via an Instagram post.
“He has agreed to spend time with me forever,” Platt wrote in the post caption. “I said yes and then cried for 7 hours,” Galvin wrote.
The photos of the two feature a background covered in flowers and show the happy, smiling couple showing off their engagement ring.
Platt and Galvin became friends after playing the lead roles in the musical “Dear Evan Hansen,” a huge Broadway hit that ended up being made into a movie last year (with Platt starring).
Galvin served as Platt’s replacement after he left the show in 2017. Eventually, they became more than friends and in 2020, they confirmed their relationship.
The revelation was made during Ilana Levine’s “Little Known Facts” podcast, in which Galvin said, “Ben and I are dating. I asked him this morning, I was like, ‘Can we talk about this?’ And he said to me, ‘Don’t go into detail, but yeah, people might know.'”
Interestingly, Galvin and Platt aren’t the only actors who starred in ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ and subsequently dated.
Before them, actors Taylor Trensch and Ben Levi Ross were also in a relationship, which led Galvin to joke that the play is “incestuous.”
“I know it’s so incestuous. But it makes sense, for example, we’ve all been through ‘war’ together. We all feel so connected.”
The wedding date has not yet been announced.
