Singer of humble origins, who won an award with the song ‘Céu Aberto’, with Marcelo Falcão, told Estadão that he lacked the images to live in risky places
Gustav of Hungary Nevesknown as the rapper Hungarian hip hop31 years old, won the Brazilian film festival LAMV 2022which takes place in Los Angeles, USA with the music video Clear skycollaboration with Marcelo Falco, in the US Movies category. Of humble origins, the musician became friends with the former singer of The Turnip after playing a tour together which took place just before the pandemic.
There, between the cities of Brazil, Hungary and the singer of My soul created a friendship. Visiting each other in the dressing room backstage at shows, the rapper from Brasilia, Federal District showed the song Clear sky for hawk🇧🇷 “He fell in love with the song, he came in with the arrangements, the melodies, while I came in with the vocals and the lyrics,” he recalled in a Zoom interview with Stage🇧🇷
Their friendship grew to the point that, one day, Falcão called to tell Hungary that he would be having dinner at his house. Religious, the 31-year-old rapper took the opportunity to make a revelation. “When he sat down at the table, I said, ‘Oh, you’re here in the house, you’re a promise from God, because he told me people I really admire would sit at this table, and you’re one of them.’ It was incredible, we sang and cried and talked until 6 in the morning,” he said.
Rappa, as well as the Racionais MC’s, with which Hungary sang in a show on September 6 this year, in São Paulo, participated in its growth and history. Always very present in his life, music has served the rapper as a means of escaping adversity.
Hungary’s texts usually deal with sensitive subjects of history itself. In Thunderstorm, for example, sings: “Looking a little flimsy / It was us by the hood, six o’clock sun / And my mother was unemployed / With a busy schedule to raise the three of us.” The outbursts, which work as a kind of therapy, result in more than three million monthly listeners on just the Spotify🇧🇷
“Progress is a slap in the face”
How to sing Parallel universe🇧🇷 “progress is a slap in the face”, Hungary faced adversity in childhood and adolescence to achieve stardom. She lived in hard-to-reach places that flooded after the rains. “I don’t have any pictures of the children because I lost them all in the flood—and my mother is still scared of the rain today,” she said, who moved often.
The mother, Raquel from Hungary Neves, with whom the artist maintains a relationship of deep love and affection, worked with what was necessary to feed the family. She was a maid and also ran a small shop which, at night, became the room where she slept with her children.
“There was never a shortage of food at home, but, in fact, there was a shortage of people who wanted to stop and not stop to eat,” Hungary said.
The artist keeps Raquel’s memory strong by collecting coins at 4 in the morning to buy two loaves of bread for the children at school. She says the experience has shaped her personality about her. “You know what? It wasn’t bad at all, because I learned a lot and it built my character. Today I see that what really matters is my mother and my family.”
Hungary’s success became Rachel’s reward for the hardships she faced. “We are flesh and nails – she sleeps in my bed to this day. She already has butt and now she wants to pick her nose (laughs),” the musician said of the gifts he gives his mother after his musical success.
‘Inside me there is always an open sky’
For fans who come from the same social and economic background as Hungary, he said he wanted to lead by example. “What I really want and love is for kids to look at me and think, ‘Wow, that’s possible.’
Returning to the hook of this article, the will of Hungary has been translated into music Clear sky. He and Falcão sing about faith and honesty: “Imagine the atmosphere and friends on the side/ I always run for the right thing/ Sometimes the day gets cloudy/ But inside me there is always an open sky.”
The former O Rappa singer even opens the clip of the song with a message of encouragement and hope. “Many will tell you that it’s not possible; that in this place nobody has a chance; that dreaming is just a waste of time. But, for those who have faith, life never ends.”
The clip, which presents the participation and testimonials of Neymar And Whindersson Nunes, was designed by Falcão. to wade:
