Rafael Cardoso comments on the end of his marriage and reveals heart disease: ‘I started having arrhythmia’

The actor was married for sixteen years to the actress Mariana Bridi from whom he recently separated

Actor Rafael Cardoso has opened up about splitting from actress Mariana Bridi after 16 years of marriage. By participating in the podcast ‘Papagaio Falante’ last Thursday 8, the global player revealed that he is finding himself and taking care of his health after being diagnosed with a rare heart disease.

At the beginning of the chat, Rafael talked about single life. “I was very happy with my wife, with the family we had in that format. We have always been very friendly and I want it to stay,” he began. “I’m taking this time more for myself. To breathe and be happy with my company. […] It’s saving myself,” he said.

Later in the conversation, Rafael revealed that he suffers from congenital cardiac fibrosis (heart disease). The actor claimed that he affects the functioning of his heart and he went through moments of stress during the separation that triggered the defibrillator inserted in the organ, to regulate the heartbeat.

“I also suffered a little while ago from everything, from the separation, I was a little nervous and I started having arrhythmia. And he [desfibrilador interno] it started to release some impulses and i could not understand. I was like, “Dude, I’m having a panic attack,” I started feeling sick and I was like, “I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die” […] But it passed, that’s a guarantee,” he explained.

What is congenital heart disease?

Congenital heart disease is any change in the structure of the heart that affects how the organ works. It appears during pregnancy during the development of the embryo.

Some heart diseases are changes in the heart valves, malformation of the ventricles and other heart structures. Treatment varies from patient to patient and constant medical monitoring is required.
