In an interview with ’60 Minutes’ (CBS), the former prince said he only believed she was dead after he went to the scene of the fatal crash.
In an interview with the program 60 minutes (CBS), presented by Anderson Cooper, harry stated that for a long time he doubted his mother’s death, Princess Diana. She said that he had to go to Paris and go through the tunnel of the Ponte de l’Ama to see if an accident like the one suffered by her mother was really possible.
The former prince has said he believes his mother might have devised a strategy to step out of the spotlight and meet him and his brother, Prince William, in secret. “For a long time I refused to accept that she was gone. She would never have done this to us, but maybe that was part of the plan too,” said Harry, who revealed his brother also had similar thoughts to him.
Harry said he kept hope long after the fatality. When asked what he was looking for in denying his mother’s death, he said he hoped to find evidence confirming that the accident occurred. “[Queria] Proof that he was in that car. Proof that she was injured and proof that the paparazzi who chased her into the tunnel were the same ones who photographed her half-dead in the backseat of the car.”
When he turned 23, Harry went to Paris and wanted to go to the place where Princess Diana died. At the time, he and his brother also considered reopening the investigation into the case. “I wanted to see if it was possible to drive as fast as Henri Paul was driving, if it was possible to lose control of the car and crash into the pillar, killing almost everyone in the car,” he said. “I needed to do that. I needed to take the same route.”
