Actor Keanu Reeves (“Matrix Resurrections”) has been issued a temporary restraining order against an alleged stalker.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the petition was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday (1/31) by Reeves’ attorney Mathew Rosengart against a 38-year-old man. In the document, the man is accused of repeatedly stalking, harassing and violating the actor’s property.
The alleged stalker is described as a foreigner with no permanent residence, but who as of November 2022 is “engaged in an ongoing course of alarming and harassing/threatening conduct”.
The petition also points out that Reeves has endured considerable suffering since the stalking and harassment began.
According to an investigation, the subject made at least six “unwelcome appearances” at Reeves’ home in Los Angeles between last November and January 2023.
Additionally, the man was found to have a criminal record of more than 20 years, including convictions related to assault, drug possession, theft, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
There are also further allegations in a case that took place in 2022 and is still pending – and which has nothing to do with Reeves – involving breaking and entering with criminal intent and possession of theft tools.
In early November, the individual made back-to-back appearances at Reeves’ home. On his first attempt, he was found asleep in the actor’s yard.
The next day, about 12 hours later, he returned and left a “suspicious and alarming backpack on Mr. Reeves’ property” containing several items, including a “bizarre” note and a DNA test kit, which the individual he intended to use to prove that he and the actor were related.
He returned to the property several times in January and at one point climbed over a fence to try to enter the house.
Before that, the alleged stalker reportedly made several posts on his Facebook. While the posts are described in the petition as inconsistent, one in particular caught our attention. In it, the subject identifies himself as Jasper Keith Reeves (ie with the same surname as the actor). Another post claims he would sign away his rights to the actor, making Keanu liable for him.
A criminal investigation is underway.
