Alexey Lukin: “Peacocks have character”

In the series “Ivanov-Ivanov”, new episodes of which will be released on February 6 on STS, whatever happens to your Vanya. How did he surprise you this time?

The start of the season itself seemed like an interesting decision: Vanya comes from Moscow as a successful businessman. Apparently he has his own company and everyone thinks he’s awesome. But in fact, Vanya has lost a lot and now he owes the bad guys. All season, two bandits pursue him and Vanya escapes from them. And each episode is like a way to survive. Plus a romantic line with Vasya. And she is such a tomboy with a company of village gopniks on mopeds. In general, you will not be bored, I promise. (Laughs.)

Probably not without tricks?

Somehow I had to get on the horse, fall down and try to get back on it. At first they offered me a stunt double, but I decided to do it all myself. It’s funny, but it was harder in another scene when he jumped over the peacocks. They did not sit still, constantly flew over the fences. In general, the birds turned out to have character. (Laughs.)

You were playing football. Have you fantasized about what would have happened if you had chosen sports over movies?

Each year, I am convinced that I made the right choice. I am now doing what I love, and even fatigue with a busy schedule is very pleasant fatigue. I understand that I appreciate that.

Now there are many online platforms where high quality serials are published. As a viewer, do you browse this stream, do you follow the premieres?

When I have time, I watch something from Netflix. I’m a Stranger Things fan. I generally like foreign series from an educational point of view, because I watch with subtitles. At the same time, I kill two birds with one stone: I watch what people are talking about now, and I also learn the language. But our series, in my opinion, has gone to another level. Many interesting things, everything is different, I can only hear from colleagues: “Look how well done!”. I am happy and proud that this is happening. I notice it myself from the scripts: it’s beautifully written, original. So when there is a break, I will certainly evaluate all new platforms, but, of course, I will start with my own. (Laughs.)

Isn’t it scary to look at yourself?

It’s still working on bugs. Sometimes it’s not very pleasant to look at yourself in the frame, sometimes I understand that somewhere I could have done better.

Looking at new items is rarely possible, but what about travel?

So far, everything is happening in Moscow and the Moscow region. (Smiles.) Thanks to the Ivanovs, by the way, I got to know Zvenigorod, we spent a lot of time there. But, to be honest, I didn’t have time to see anything there, only the location of the Ivanovs. (Laughs.) In Sochi, I also went to the New Season film festival, where the major platforms presented their previews.

Do you make plans or do you let it happen?

My immediate goal is to work, work and work again. (Smiling.) Try to make sure that with such a tough schedule, you can absolutely do your job with high quality. What’s important is everything I’ve designed and really want to bring to life. And then I’ll think of other things. Well, if you manage to go somewhere to relax, then great. (Smiling.)
