Madonna Slams Comments on Grammy Appearance: ‘Hetarianism and Misogyny’

The singer appeared at the awards show on Sunday night, 5, and netizens said her face was swollen

Madonna used Instagram, this Tuesday 7, to counter internet users who claimed that her face was swollen and criticized her appearance on Grammy Awards 2023.

The 64-year-old singer appeared at the awards show, which took place last Sunday, 5, to introduce the presentation by Sam Smith AND Kim Petras.

In her text, Madonna said that many chose to ignore her speech at the event, in which she thanked artists promoting change, to focus on photos that “distorted” her face.

“Again, I’m caught up in age [preconceito de idade] and the misogyny that permeates the world we live in. A world that refuses to celebrate women over 45 and feels the need to punish them if they remain stubborn, hardworking and adventurous,” she wrote.

The artist also said that she has never apologized for any of her creative choices or her looks and that she wouldn’t now.

“I’ve been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career, but I understand this is all a test and I’m happy to pioneer so that all the women after me can have an easier life for years to come. In Beyoncé’s words: ‘You won’t break my soul,'” she added.
