Costumes and accessories from "The Devil Wears Prada 2" are going up for auction, with proceeds benefiting the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), according to Christie's official website, which is hosting the sale.



The film, directed by David Frankel, supplied the wardrobe items for the benefit sale. The online auction will run from September 1 to September 15, coinciding with a public exhibition of the items at Christie's New York headquarters from September 8 to September 13.

Pieces worn by the cast

The sale has the backing of the film's star, Meryl Streep, and includes fashion items worn on screen by cast members including Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Simone Ashley and Lady Gaga.

Highlights include a Gabriela Hearst dress worn by Hathaway and a fringed jacket by Dries Van Noten worn by Streep. Also on offer are pieces by Dolce & Gabbana, a feather dress by Bad Binch TonTong worn by Lady Gaga, and a Dior suit worn by Blunt.

CFDA president on the sale

Steven Kolb, CEO and president of the CFDA, said the auction lets bidders share in the energy of what he called a magnificent representation of the fashion industry, while contributing to important causes that play a leading role in the film's narrative: fashion and journalism.
