Chilean comedian Edmundo Bigote Arrocet has revealed that doctors found a spot and a lump on his kidney during recent hospital tests in Madrid.
The 78-year-old television personality confirmed the medical discovery to celebrity magazine Semana after being photographed leaving a clinic holding a folder of medical reports while accompanied by his doctor.
Images published by the magazine on Wednesday showed Arrocet leaving the medical center with emotional support from his physician, who walked alongside him as Arrocet examined his test documentation outside the entrance.
Arrocet, who rose to prominence as a comedic performer on Spanish television in the 1970s and 1980s, remains a well-known public figure in Spain following his long-term relationship with the late television presenter María Teresa Campos. His health setback has generated widespread interest across Spanish media, including reactions from Campos's daughters, Terelu Campos and Carmen Borrego.
Hospital Visit and Initial Reactions
Despite the concern surrounding his health, Arrocet stated that he does not yet have a definitive diagnosis and is awaiting the full results of his examinations while continuing with his daily routine.
In initial encounters with reporters after his clinic visit was reported, Arrocet avoided discussing his condition directly. When asked about his medical problems by journalists, he deflected by asking reporters to explain what health issues they were referring to before ending the conversation.
He was later seen walking through the streets of Madrid with Gema Serrano, his former partner who remains a close friend and defender. The pair dined together at a local restaurant, where Serrano noted that the tripe was excellent and emphasized that their meeting was strictly friendly rather than romantic.
Awaiting Medical Results
Addressing the public interest surrounding his health, Arrocet urged people to remain calm and downplayed the situation. He asked why there was so much fuss when he was simply waiting for clinic staff to deliver his test results, noting that nothing bad had happened yet.
Arrocet remarked with humor that at 78 years of age, a person is bound to have some health condition. He added that his doctors jokingly informed him that he was battered and worn down, but maintained that he remains anxious only to clear up doubts rather than feeling worried.
