Emily Atack's ITV show Nobody's Fool axed after one series

Emily Atack's ITV reality quiz show Nobody's Fool has been cancelled after a single series.

The cancellation leaves the 36-year-old television star's schedule clearer as filming begins for the newly announced third Inbetweeners movie.

Atack hosted Nobody's Fool alongside 49-year-old Danny Dyer, her co-star in the Disney+ series Rivals. The intellect-based game show, which premiered in May, featured ten players who had to lie and cheat to win a potential £100,000 prize pot. Contestants attempted to convince others they had aced daily quizzes, even when they had not.

Viewers had branded the programme a "rip-off" of the successful Disney+ bonkbuster when it hit screens in May.

"There are no immediate plans for another series of Nobody's Fool," an ITV spokesperson told The Daily Mail. The Daily Mail has contacted ITV representatives for comment.

Inbetweeners return

A source told The Sun that the cancellation could pave the way for Atack to return to her breakthrough role as Charlotte "Big Jugs" Hinchcliffe.

"It's disappointing for Emily, but the news will give fans fresh hope she could now take part in filming for the third Inbetweeners movie," the source said.

"They've been delighted by the fact the original four leads have signed up to resume their roles, but she's also a hugely important character to devotees," the source added. "Now they'll be hoping that clearing some of her diary will give her the chance to be a part of what's shaping up to be one of the most exciting events for fans this year."

The trailer for the third Inbetweeners film was released this week. The comedy's four main stars, Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas, will all reprise their respective roles as Will McKenzie, Jay Cartwright, Neil Sutherland and Simon Cooper.

Despite the excitement over the return, it has been reported that streaming bosses aren't satisfied with just the main men returning and also want to see Atack reprise her role. A source said the show's creators have written the script and are ready to roll.

"Emily is one of the missing pieces in the project they're keen to get in place," the source said. "Fans will already be delighted that the four main leads are returning as there was concern that a reboot might see new, younger actors cast in the roles of the lads, who were all supposed to be teenagers in the show."

"But it's fair to say getting Emily back would be the cherry on the Inbetweeners cake," the source added.

Past tensions

The push for Atack's return comes after she was reportedly axed from an Inbetweeners reunion seven years ago following a "past fling" with Buckley.

In 2019, Buckley reportedly told producers "it's her or me," leading to Atack's exclusion from the reunion special. The pair had a brief relationship when they were both single during their days in the show from 2008 to 2010. Reports at the time suggested Buckley was afraid his wife, Clair Meek, would find out about the brief relationship.

Sources told The Sun last month that all four main actors were "thrilled" to be asked back, but noted that things would be a bit harder for Atack to commit to a reboot movie considering everything she's got going on at the moment.

As well as starring in Rivals, Atack is in the process of making a new programme for the BBC called Reputation.

Meanwhile, the actress is set to tie the knot with husband Dr Alistair Garner in a second star-studded Spanish wedding this Saturday. She and Garner, who share a two-year-old son, Barney, will say their vows in the stunning whitewashed hilltop town of Mojacar, south of Alicante.

Atack has been a regular visitor over the years to Mojacar, where her father, 67-year-old musician Keith, had a summer home that he sold in 2018.
