Singer Selena Gomez, who has repeatedly faced criticism for being overweight, decided to put an end to the discussion of her figure. During a live broadcast on social media, the star revealed that weight fluctuations are caused by taking lupus medication. Selena was first diagnosed with the disease in 2014.

I tend to retain a lot of water in my body and this is quite common. And when I don’t take medication, I lose weight. I just wanted to encourage everyone and say that no one knows the real story, there is no need to be ashamed. I want people to know that you are wonderful, you are wonderful. And, yes, we may have days when we don’t feel well, but I would rather be healthy and take care of myself,” Gomez shared.

At the end of the video message, the singer and star of the series “Murders in the same building” thanked the fans for their support and said that taking medication is very important and improves her well-being:

I am not a model and never will be. I think they’re amazing, but I’m definitely, definitely not. And if you don’t like me, leave, because, frankly, I don’t believe in shaming people about their bodies or anything else.

Previously, Selena Gomez was criticized for being overweight after appearing at the 80th Golden Globe Awards. On the red carpet, the star posed next to actress Jenna Ortega, who looked slimmer. After that, the singer responded to the haters.
