Last evening at the Theater on Malaya Bronnaya, the premiere of a new performance by Mikita Ilyinchik based on the play by A.P. Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard” is one of the most demanded texts on the theater stage. Olga Buzova, Maria Pogrebnyak, Marianna Maksimovskaya, Natasha Koroleva, Andrei Merzlikin, Daria Poverennova and many others were the first to see a fresh interpretation of the family estate of bankrupt nobles, and at the same time congratulate the artistic director of the theater Konstantin Bogomolov on his recently acquired position.

Working on his version together with the acting troupe and artist Masha Plavinskaya, the director of the performance did not strive to separate from the famous performances, but, on the contrary, to continue their history, analyzing the Chekhov text in detail and looking for additional meanings in it.

We hoped to continue the dialogue with Chekhov, starting from the information base that he possessed. But it was important for us to place ourselves at this time, the conversation of this text with time is important, – Ilyinchik explained.

The celebrity guests were impressed. And the rave reviews were not long in coming.

Great cast, and this is an absolute success. The director’s work is amazing: to add dynamics to Chekhov, you need to have professionalism and talent. And I liked the extravagant finale – the cherry on the cake, – Natasha Koroleva shared her impressions.

I love the classics and all the reminiscences of the classics. It’s always interesting. The combination of a cold intellectual game and an attempt at an actual reading of eternal motives, combined with an emotional perception that is born in the viewer, gives an amazing effect, which, probably, any director achieves. Here, I think it worked. In general, it’s interesting, it’s a classic, of course, it’s good because it always responds in modern times, – added Marianna Maksimovskaya.
