Emma Stone slapped Willem Dafoe 20 times: there’s a reason

How to go to a set when you don’t even have to roll and get scalded.

We have learned that Emma Stone slapped Willem Dafoe in the set from his latest movie. And not once, but twenty. But don’t worry, because the beating is not due to any scuffle between the actors: it was Dafoe himself who asked the actress to hit him off camera to make a scene on the tape more authentic.

Willem Dafoe asked Emma Stone to give him 20 slaps for the sake of and, their last movie together

The movie in question is called and and is directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, the director behind Canine, Lobster either The sacrifice of a sacred deer. But Willem is very much Willem. And if an actor like him claims that he has a trick to improve the atmosphere of a scene, he is listened to. Although that trick leaves physical scars on his cheek. Even so, Dafoe insisted that his co-star, Emma Stone, give him about twenty off-scene slaps. And the funny thing is that the actor who played the Green Goblin in the spider man Sam Raimi didn’t even have to be on the set at the time.

According to the script, Stone’s character in and crosses the face of Dafoe’s while he is out of the camera’s field of view. Therefore, the actor did not have to participate in the filming of that scene. However, Willem insisted on participating in the shot and taking the brunt of it. Some former collaborators of the actor had defined him as someone “hungry for looks”, but in a report for the New York Times, Emma Stone refutes that claim completely. “Maybe it has changed over the years,” she explains. “Many of the actors I end up connecting with have been at it for a long time, and have gone from I to the us. Lots of performers have an instinct for acting that screams: Look at me, look at me. He’s the opposite of that.”

According to the actress, who won an Oscar for La La Land and old acquaintance of Lanthimos for her role in The favourite (2018), Willem Dafoe just loves being in the set, even when it is not his turn to roll. Even if she ends up getting a good handful of slaps. That is love of cinema.
