Music festival cancels MC Pipokinha show after attacks on teachers

In the above episode, the funk artist disdained the salary of Brazilian teachers

The Spotted Fest music festival, which will take place on August 5 in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, has announced the cancellation of the show of funk artist MC Pipokinha, who was in the line-up of the event.

In a statement, the festival explained that it had chosen to cancel the show after the attacks that the artist carried out against Brazilian teachers in a discussion on the social network. The event stated that Pipokinha has crossed “the bounds of common sense”.

In the aforementioned episode, the funk artist replied to a follower on the social network about the profession. “To be a teacher you have to love the job very much, because you hear insults from other people’s children, you have nothing to do at home anyway, you have to be a teacher”.

Later, he disdained teachers’ salaries. “And still receive what a professor receives, which is almost nothing. A professor is humiliated as hell… just being a professor (…) 70,000. Sometimes he doesn’t even earn R$ 5,000 as a teacher. He has to study a lot”.

Spotted Fest clarified in a statement that the event was born in an academic environment. “It has been welcomed by UFRN [Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte]its students, and has gained national prominence during these nearly 10 years of existence”.

The organizers also said that, in recent weeks, “several controversial statements have changed our view of the singer”.

The note mentions the attack and concludes: “comparing and financing people who use characters to overcome the limits of common sense are not part of the review and, therefore, that MC Pipokinha attraction will no longer be part of the lineup of our event”. .

The statement ends by saying that new artist names will be added to the line-up soon.
