Irina, from an early age you have been dancing. How, while working as a choreographer, did you become a host at large-scale concert venues, public talks, broadcasts?
Everything happened by chance. Once I was writing a production of a show program. After the manager got acquainted with the idea, she told her friend about this concept, shooting in the interview format was relevant for her, and we transferred my idea to this format. And it was decided that no one would reveal the topic better than the person who came up with it. That’s how I became the leader.
Was it difficult to quit a business in which you were successful and start all over again – from scratch?
Quite often in my life I had to try something new. But I never abruptly abandoned the workboat as a choreographer. I tried myself in different areas, gained new knowledge and skills, and life showed me where I really fit in. I host concerts, public talks, official events. And each format has its pros and cons. At concerts there is always a script, and you clearly know what is going on and for what. The complexity of working in this format lies in the fact that there are usually a lot of viewers and you need to keep the attention of the audience. Today, public talk is my favorite format, a mix of interviews and a live audience. I enjoy interacting with guests who can provide valuable, interesting and useful information. And my job is to become the very conductor who should involve the public in a conversation with the hero.

What helps win people over?
Gotta make everyone smile! It can be a short funny joke, or it can be attention-grabbing through a joint action. The leader is an eternal positive and never-ending movement.
In addition to charisma and energy, there should be a professional base: a well-trained voice, well-read, a sense of tact, delicacy, a sense of humor, self-presentation, empathy. And of course, you should always look great. You have probably come across funny photos of stars when they are caught at the wrong time, and so, believe me: we, the presenters, always remember this. Therefore, every time we go on stage or on the set, we try to look perfect.
Tell us about your new projects.
I want to surprise those who want to travel in a fun and cheerful way without leaving home. Now they are shooting a new show with my participation. We defined the genre of the program as “travel show type”. Why “type”? It’s simple – the presentation will be categorically different from the standard travel format that our viewers are used to seeing.
In the first season, 20 episodes are planned, each of them will have its own storyline and style: from a romantic comedy to a brutal action movie, from a mystical horror to a tense thriller. Naturally, each episode will be filmed in the most interesting cities of Russia. And if you are waiting for a standard tourist overview of major cities that everyone already knows, then you will definitely be surprised.

Along with million-plus cities, we would like to show those places of Mother Russia that few people know about, but they are crazy interesting. My co-host Anton Yuryev, a popular Russian actor, TV and radio host, with whom the whole country wakes up every day on the waves of Russian Radio, is as extremely reactive as I am. And when there are two peppy, positive and a bit extreme people in the frame, watching them is much more interesting than just getting dry information about the sights.
The show will be released in two versions. On the Internet, which “tolerates everything”, there will be a version “without cuts”, but on one of the federal channels there will be a “combed” version of the program! We will be very happy if the cities we are talking about are filled with tourists and simply interested and caring people.
In your social networks there are a huge number of photos from different countries and cities. Is there anything else that impresses you?
Anything can surprise me. For example, nature in Portugal. I managed to visit 14 cities in twenty days, Cape Roca is the place where the edge of the earth meets the boundless ocean. I was lucky to live in a castle in the city of Sintra and visit a tower that goes underground, it has a screw shape. When I first saw it, I had the impression that this tower was pulled out of the ground, turned over and stuck back. I recently returned from Antarctica and the jungles of Argentina and Brazil. I saw another edge of the earth – Cape Horn, but already southern. There I passed the Drake Passage.
And in Russia there are a huge number of places that fascinate. I’ll show you soon.
