Anya Taylor-Joy, the voice of Princess Peaches in ‘Super Mario Bros: The Movie’, has repeatedly declared her passion for the Harry Potter saga
Anya Taylor-Joy has repeatedly revealed her devotion to the ‘Harry Potter’ saga of books and films, going so far as to state that “the characters in the Harry Potter books were my friends“. In the midst of a promotional campaign for ‘Super Mario Bros’, the animated film in which she gives voice to Princess Peaches, the actress has gone a step further, stating that she learned English thanks to ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Jumanji’ and ‘School of Rock’.
The actress was born in Florida (USA), grew up in Argentina and moved to the United Kingdom at the age of 6, going through difficult times. “I spent the first two years in England playing with plants and learning to read. That was my existence. Didn’t date other kids”, he has come to relate.
To adjust to the new language, Anya found her salvation in the cinema: “At the school I attended when I moved to London they played ‘School Rock’ every Friday,” she said. “At the time, she didn’t really speak much English, if she did speak any, so Jack Black, ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Jumanji’ are the reason he learned English!”
Anya Taylor-Joy has also told how excited it was to share a promotional tour for ‘Super Mario Bros: The Movie’ with Jack Black (the voice of the villain Browser), the star of ‘School of Rock’ and therefore one of his idols of childhood. “I rarely get like this, but before I was going around like, ‘Oh my gosh Tenacious D [el grupo de música de Black]this is incredible‘”. Taylor-Joy added that Tenacious D’s ‘Tribute’ is her favorite karaoke song: “I do all the vocals. It’s wonderful,” she said.
The ‘Furiosa’ actress, the next one in the ‘Mad Max’ saga, declared a couple of years ago in The Wall Street Journal that refused to learn English for two years after moving to London in an effort to force his parents to return to South America.
Now, Taylor-Joy wants to go back to using her first language and has affirmed buzzfeed that “I would love to make a film in Spanish, as well as work with any Spanish-speaking director.”
PLEASE.
