The actor has just presented ‘The Covenant’, his latest war film directed by Guy Ritchie.
Broadway musicals have always been an aspiring dream for many American actors and actresses.. Above all, for those who took their first steps on the stage interpreting versions of them in their institutes and schools. (Yes, what we see in the movies also happens in reality, it is not something exclusive to the Disney Channel).
And if not, tell Jake Gyllenhaal. The actor, who has just presented his latest film, ‘The Covenant’, spoke with Variety in the premiere of the tape on this subject and stated: “There are many musicals that I like deeply.“
“At some point, I would like to perform ‘Fiddler on the Roof’. I would love to do it,“shared the interpreter.
His godmother, Jamie Lee Curtis, who was also present at the premiere, joined the conversation and shared a school memory of Gyllenhaal. The actor’s interest in that particular musical is not causal. It turns out that he was about to star in a version of it in his high school, a few years ago. However, his professional career had other plans for him.
The theatrical representation coincided with the filming of his film, ‘Sky in October’, from 1999. The independent film was enough for Gyllenhaal to put aside his musical dream. “I knew then how committed he was to being an actor, because a lot of people wouldn’t have given up acting for a small, independent film,Curtis commented.
“Many would have said, ‘No, I’m going to star in my school musical,” continued the actress. “I realized that his dedication to art was different from wanting to be very famous or seek a lot of attention.“
In ‘The Covenant’, directed by Guy Ritchie, we will see Gyllenhaal in the shoes of an American sergeant during the War in Afghanistan. After being seriously injured, he will try to help the translator of his unit (Dar Salim) to escape from the Taliban regime, to take him to the United States. The film will hit theaters on April 21.
And, who knows, after such a declaration of intent, we might get to see him one day in the spotlight bringing Tevye to life once and for all. Will have to take a look at the upcoming Broadway releases…
