The couple married in 2008 and divorced in 2010, but even if you’ve been married three times, it’s not something to be overlooked.
Marvel star Scarlett Johansson has opened up about her marriage to Ryan Reynolds, now also part of the MCU after the future arrival of ‘Deadpool 3’.
Some may have forgotten that the two superhero actors were married in 2008. The couple separated two years later and their divorce was finalized in 2011. Appearing in the goop podcasts From Gwyneth Paltrow this week, Johansson made a rare reference to her marriage to Reynolds, after the host asked if she had been married twice, as if forgetting about Reynolds.
“Three times,” Johansson replied.
“Oh, that’s right,” Paltrow replied. “I forgot you were married to Ryan Reynolds. Goals!”
Johansson later explained, “We weren’t married very long, but we were when I met you for Iron Man or whatever.”
“We love a good Ryan Reynolds in our home,” Paltrow added, and Johansson agreed: “He’s a good guy.”
After divorcing Reynolds, Johansson married French journalist Romain Dauriac in 2014, with whom she shares a daughter. Johansson and Dauriac separated in 2016 and divorced in 2017.
In October 2020, Johansson married ‘Saturday Night Live’ comedian Colin Jost, with whom she shares a son named Cosmo.
Asked by Paltrow what she’s learned about marriage or long-term relationships over the years, Johansson said her past experiences prepared her to marry Jost.
“I think one of the things that I realized is that there are certain fundamental things in your own personality that you need, or at least I needed to share with the other person,” he explained.
“I never realized, ‘Oh, it’s really important to me, I need to be with a compassionate person.’ That’s a fundamental characteristic that has to be there.”
Soon we will be able to see Johansson in Wes Anderson’s ‘Asteroid City’, along with Maya Hawke and Tom Hanks. However, we will not see her in Marvel with her ex-husband, since Johansson has closed her stage as Black Widow.
