Today, May 9, the late mother of Angelina Jolie, actress Marcheline Bertrand, would have turned 73 years old. The woman passed away 15 years ago after a long battle with breast and ovarian cancer. On the eve of her birthday, Jolie got in touch with subscribers and published a rare archival photograph, which depicts her mother as a very young child. The actress accompanied the previously unknown photo with a touching message in which she urged fans to take care of their health and regularly undergo mammograms and other examinations to diagnose the disease at an early stage.

And she always signed her letters with the phrase “Kiss the sky.” After her death, it took on a new meaning. I send my love to those who have also lost loved ones, and strength to those who at this very moment are fighting for their lives and the lives of those they love. And I urge other women to please take the time to take care of yourself and get mammograms, blood tests or ultrasounds, especially if you have a history of cancer in the family,” wrote Angelina, adding the hashtags #WOCD2023 and #worldovariancancerday.

Note that Angelina is actively involved in charity work in the field of women’s health.
