Nearly a week after the coronation, Buckingham Palace released two more formal portraits of Charles III, showing the king on his special day at Westminster Abbey. On one of them, His Majesty poses with his son, the future King of Great Britain Prince William and grandson, Prince George, who will take the throne after his father. In the picture, the boy smiles to the left of his grandfather, the king, after his impeccable performance in the abbey, where he played the role of a royal page.
But what makes this photo special is not only the fact that three generations of kings (present and future) appeared in one frame, but also a touching family moment. Of course, all three have repeatedly appeared in the frame together, but in such an exclusively male composition, and even in an official setting, they pose for the first time.
The author of the picture, photographer Hugo Bernard, told the British HELLO!, who spent several days in the royal archives before filming:
I have examined pictures of past coronations, but have not seen a single one showing the line of succession. Although we have seen photographs of the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George, we have never seen them in the throne room with all the regalia. I felt it was important to take this picture.

In another frame published on the eve of Buckingham Palace, the new king and queen are depicted next to Her Majesty’s court ladies – her sister Annabelle Elliot and her good friend the Marchioness Lansdowne. In the picture you can also see the grandchildren of Camilla Freddie Parker-Bowles, twins Gus and Louis Lopesov, as well as her great-nephew Arthur Elliot.
