Dayanara Torres defends herself from criticism for speaking English with her children in front of her grandmother

Dayanara Torres responded to all those people who criticized the fact that she speaks in English with her children, Cristian and Ryan, when they are with her grandmother.

The dispute over the language they choose to communicate with each other arose right in the middle of their happiness at ‘Cris’ university graduation, which took place last week.

On Wednesday, May 19, Dayanara Torres uploaded a video to her Instagram account in which she is seen talking, in English, with Cristian and Ryan.

The three were riding, along with Mrs. Luz Delgado, the driver’s mother, in a limousine on their way to the ceremony where The New School dismissed another generation. At the beginning of the clip, the grandmother of Marc Anthony’s children says a few words in Spanish.

Although many of the users of the social network congratulated her on the achievement of her first child with Marc Anthony, others criticized her.

“Speak Spanish out of respect for the lady, who I think is the grandmother”, “Why don’t you speak Spanish? What happened?”, “Why are you speaking in English? I really didn’t get it. They are of Puerto Rican origin, out of respect for their country they should speak Spanish,” netizens wrote.

Faced with the wave of criticism, Dayanara responded, in the same publication, to those who were against the use of the English language to converse with Ryan and Cristian.

“Here is a copy & paste for those who judge without knowing. My kids speak Spanish, but we’re not going to translate every conversation we have into every language they know…” she complained.

“(Born and raised) in New York and Los Angeles and speak both languages,” he added emphatically.

The model, who recently celebrated being crowned Miss Universe 30 years ago, took the opportunity to highlight what she considers truly valuable in the clip she published.

“The beauty of the video is our conversation and the mother-child interaction… but it seems that’s not important to some,” he concluded.

As a result of this message, Torres received support from his fans. “Don’t give explanations to these ‘haters’, live and enjoy your moment of being an exemplary mother,” said one fan.

Dayanara Torres is passing on her love of Puerto Rico to her children

A decade ago, Dayanara Torres made it clear that one of her goals as parents was to introduce Cristian and Ryan to the country in which they grew up.

“As a mother, I continue to make it a priority to share the beauty and culture of Puerto Rico with my children so they can appreciate it as much as I do,” she said during the tribute paid to her by the nation’s government.

Last year, Cristian and Ryan visited the so-called “island of a thousand names”. They even watched, together with their now stepmother, Nadia Ferreira, the concert that their father gave at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum.
