‘I want you to know I’m not giving up’: Celine Dion cancels world tour due to health problems

Sad news for fans of Celine Dion – the day before, the singer took to social networks to announce the cancellation of her Courage world tour, which was supposed to begin on August 26 with a performance in Amsterdam. The cause is a progressive neurological disease known as the rigid person syndrome. This is a condition that causes uncontrollable muscle tension and eventually turns the sufferers into living statues. Due to the stiffness of the body, they are unable to move and even speak.

It is with great disappointment that we have to announce today the cancellation of the Courage World Tour,” the celebrity wrote. “I am so sorry to disappoint you all again. I work very hard to get my strength back but touring can be very difficult even when you are 100% ready. It wouldn’t be fair to you to keep postponing shows, so even though it breaks my heart, it’s best if we cancel everything now – until I’m really ready to get back on stage again. But I want you all to know, I’m not giving up…

Recall, for the first time, Dion spoke about her diagnosis, which occurs in one person in a million, in December last year. Then Celine, with tears in her eyes, was forced to announce the cancellation of her European tour.

Hi everyone, sorry it took me so long to contact you. I miss you all so much and can’t wait to get on stage and talk to you in person,” she wrote.

And then she added:

As you know, I have always been an open book, but what I want to say now, I was not ready to reveal before. I have had health problems for a long time and it is still hard for me to talk about what I went through. I was recently diagnosed with a very rare neurological condition called the Stiff Man Syndrome, which affects one in a million people. Although we are still studying this rare condition, we now know what causes all my spasms… Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulty walking and preventing me from using my vocal cords to sing like that. how I used to… I have a great team of doctors working with me to help me recover and my precious children who support me and help me. Every day I work hard with my sports medicine therapist to regain my strength and ability to compete again, but I have to admit it has been a struggle. All I can do is sing, that’s what I’ve been doing all my life. And that’s what I love to do the most… I have no other choice but to focus on my health at the moment and I hope I’m on my way to recovery. I am doing my best to recover.
