The Dogstar bassist is also the star of the ‘Matrix’ and John Wick movies.
Keanu Reeves reunited with his rock band Dogstar at Napa Valley’s BottleRock festival in its 2023 edition. The ‘Matrix’ and ‘John Wick’ star played bass with the group for the first time in public after more than 20 years of hiatus.
Your bandmate robert mailhouse, gave Reeves some advice before performing in front of a live crowd. “It was super positive. He was like, ‘Listen to the music. Just stay present in the song, and everything will go from there‘” Reeves told the San Francisco Chronicle.
Alternative rock and grunge band Dogstar formed in 1991 when Reeves and Mailhouse met in a supermarket and began a friendship. Keanu Reeves is the bassist and backing vocals, while Mailhouse is the drummer.. Gregg Miller joined the band a year later as lead guitarist and vocalist, though he left the group in 1995. Bret Domrose replaced him to this day.
Keanu recently spoke about meeting with Dogstar and how much he missed performing with them.
“I missed playing together, writing together, doing shows together… It’s something I’ve always missed,” Reeves told bill board. “We got to a point where we weren’t playing anymore, and I missed it… But once we got together and started playing, and it felt good, really positive and creative, it was like: ‘Alright let’s make this happen.’”
Dogstar is working on a new album and Reeves added: “I think all three of us said, ‘Well, if we’re going to do this, let’s make a record‘”.
