An armed man breaks into Benedict Cumberbatch’s home and terrorizes the actor’s family

Actor Benedict Cumberbatch, known for his role as Doctor Strange in films from the Marvel Universe, has seen his London home invaded by a man armed with a knife. According to information from the Daily Mail, the invader even threatened the actor and his family.

According to the newspaper, Jack Bissell, 35, who once worked as a chef at a luxury hotel, threw open the gates of the mansion shouting: ‘I know you moved here, I hope it burns down.’ At the time of the incident, Cumberbatch, his wife Sophie Hunter, and their three children were inside the house and could hear the screams of the intruder outside as he tried to bypass security.

The man was out of control and even took a family plant and threw it against the garden wall. At one point he ripped the intercom of the residence from the wall after spitting on it. Although he couldn’t enter the house, the actor’s family was extremely scared and fearful.

Bissel managed to flee the scene before police arrived, but authorities were able to track him down through the DNA evidence he left over the intercom. He was arrested and fined, as well as receiving a restraining order banning him from going near the Cumberbatch family home for the next three years.

During the investigation, the prosecution learned that Bissell had told a nearby shopkeeper that he was going to break into Cumberland’s home and planned to burn it down. Police are investigating the motive, saying they will only reveal their findings after it is opened.

A source told the paper that the actor and his wife “have had many sleepless nights” since the incident, fearful of being targeted again. “Naturally, the whole family was absolutely terrified and thought this guy was going to come in and hurt them,” the source said. “The fact that he was a targeted invasion [a Cumberbatch] it makes it that much scarier.”

Both Brits, Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter got married in 2015, in England. The two are parents to Christopher, 7, Hal, 6, and Finn, born in 2019.
