Under treatment for cancer, Preta Gil talks about ‘feeling of urgency’

The singer published a post on the social network: ‘live today!’

Singer and entrepreneur Black Gil, 48, made a post on his Twitter account discussing pain, disappointment and a ‘feeling of urgency’. Preta, who announced in January 2023 that he has bowel cancer, faces lengthy treatment for the disease.

On April 30, Preta announced to her followers that she was starting a new phase of treatment, which includes radio and chemotherapy, as well as future surgery.

“Hello, my loves! I’m here, after a very important week in my healing process, I went to São Paulo and met the surgeon who will operate on me in the future. I will start, in a week, my treatment with radiotherapy and oral chemotherapy .I am excited and hopeful, very sure that at the end of this road there is a cure waiting for me,” Preta wrote.

Shortly before, Preta suffered septic shock affecting her lungs. At the time, she needed to be hospitalized to recover. Around the same time, rumors began that she was parting with her husband, Rodrigo Godoy. The singer confirmed her breakup days later.

Despite the illness, Preta has tried to lead a normal life. About 10 days ago he announced he’s back to work. “Today I went back to work very lightly, only 3 kkkkkk meetings. But seriously, after so many months of break without thinking about work, not because I didn’t want to, but because I couldn’t! Chemotherapy made me very depressed,” she wrote on Twitter on May 22nd.

A black woman who moved to São Paulo to complete stages of treatment, also recently posted a tour of the Liberdade neighborhood and a trip to C6Fest, in Ibirapuera park, to see her uncle’s show Caetano Veloso.
