Manoel Soares cites outrage over rumors of inappropriate conduct at Globo

Manoel Soares has left Globo after six years. Since he started sharing command of the Encounter with Patrícia Poeta, the news that the two didn’t get along backstage became recurring. They have always denied any problems, as well as the broadcaster. After the announcement of the end of the bond, the topic came back to the surface.

In an official statement, the presenter said he wanted to sue people who accused him of inappropriate conduct. “I am outraged by this kind of cowardice, but calm about the truth of my actions and conduct. Lies like these can tarnish your image, but they are not sustainable. Even so, they need and will be fought in the legal arena,” he said.

“We will take legal action against all who publish and replicate these lies so that they are held accountable for their words and actions. I am sorry for the sadness friends and family are experiencing as a result of this disrespect. I ask those that follow my job is not to accept these provocations, not to engage in these lies, because this fake news lives in it,” he added.

Manoel Soares has stated that he will continue to fight racism. “I am neither the first nor the last man from my background to be targeted in this way. For centuries they have used the strategy of allegedly violent behavior to disqualify black men, I have seen this many times, and my commitment in life is to fight racism, inequality and injustice. It couldn’t be otherwise now”.

According to the presenter, Globo’s departure was by mutual agreement and all amounts were paid. “My departure in agreement with Globo reflects our journey together, of respect, professionalism and fairness consultancy. Like all working relationships, this too was concluded, and in the best possible way, with full payment of the contract, and not with just cause, as was to be expected in the event of inappropriate conduct,” he explained.

He also took the opportunity to praise the old house: “From a personal point of view, I reiterate my gratitude to the Globo group, which has been part of a long journey that has allowed me to leave the streets of Porto Alegre and reach the homes of millions of Brazilians to bring a word of comfort and dignity to so many people who have rarely seen an equal in such a contested space”.
