MC Marcinho is intubated in a Rio hospital after cardiac arrest: ‘The condition is serious but stable’

Funkeiro was hospitalized a month ago for heart disease and is currently sedated

MC Marcinho had been hospitalized for a month to treat kidney and heart problems and this Monday the 10th he had to be intubated due to a cardiopulmonary arrest. The information was shared on the artist’s brother’s social networks, Mauro Garciaand confirmed by the hospital.

The funk artist, who suffers from heart disease and chronic kidney disease, is being treated at the Copa D’Or hospital, in Copacabana, in the south zone of Rio. Weeping, Mauro said: “I wanted to ask people to help me pray for my brother. He got worse, it was necessary to intubate him”.

“My family is all I have. His situation is not good at all. We just found out he needed to be intubated quickly,” he lamented. OR Stadium contacted the hospital for an update on the singer’s health.

According to a press release, he is sedated and his state of health is serious: “Patient Marcio André presented cardiorespiratory arrest yesterday, requiring cardiac support by means of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. He is currently sedated, on mechanical ventilation and haemodialysis. His condition is serious but stable.”

ECMO, used in Marcinho, is a pump that circulates blood through an artificial lung outside the body, then back into the bloodstream. The artist was already using a pacemaker to regulate his heartbeat and, in March of this year, he had to be hospitalized to have the device changed due to a malfunction.
