Edwin Kaz surprised to reveal this he had cancer and that he is now free from the dangerous disease.
The confession was made this Saturday night, August 26, at a concert he gave at the Potosina National Exhibition in San Luis Potosí in Mexico.
At the same time, he clarified that cancer is the reason he said he wanted to retire.
“I want you to understand the reason I want to leave now, a hiatal hernia is complicated and it gets more complicated,” he told his concert attendees group company, according to videos circulating on social networks and the review of the concert published by the Mexican newspaper El Universal.
“It was good to see… and there was something called Barrett’s Esophagus and Barrett’s esophagus becomes cancer“, he explained.
“As you stayed, so I stayedcold on November 4, I was like, ‘Shit… the shame…'” he commented.
Eduin Caz and his battle against cancer
The singer’s statement about his health was the first he made about the cancer diagnosis he said he received.
In late 2021, the 29-year-old artist announced in a statement that a hiatal hernia had been detected “with changes in the esophageal mucosa.”
For those dates, the singer had raised an alarm because a photo was released in which he was seen admitted to a hospital.
Given the alarm, it was explained that he had undergone a “laryngeal stroboscopy” and a “gastric endoscopy” which helped to detect the diagnosis.
The famous Mayo Clinic explains on its official website that among the symptoms of “larger hiatal hernias” are shortness of breath, difficulty swallowing, heartburn and chest painincluding.
Then it was said that Eduin Caz would be in therapy. He talked about changing his habits and lifestyle in order not to cause complications.
One of these adjustments to stop drinking alcoholbut several times he was criticized for being seen drinking alcoholic beverages.
Over time, Caz detailed how his treatment was going, his improvements and relapses.
One of the most disturbing happened in early May 2022 when he was rushed to a hospital after giving a concert at the Foro Sol in Mexico City.
On that occasion, images were released of the singer being carried on a stretcher, with his eyes closed while being put in an ambulance.
It took Caz a few days to explain what had happened to him: “On Friday I took about three or four ten-second ‘shots’. I ended up very drunk and my stomach was on fire. On Saturday I woke up with diarrhea and a very annoying stomachache and before the show I injected myself and drank.”
Then, in mid-January, Grupo Firme announced the postponement of a concert scheduled at the Foro Sol in February.
The reason: Eduin Caz had to undergo emergency surgery due to sinusitis from which he also suffers, but he has never spoken publicly about the fact that the hiatal hernia would have led to the development of Barrett’s esophagus.
Neither did any of his relatives. nor his ex, Daisy AnahiThey had been reporting something about this for the past few months.
What is Barrett’s Esophagus?
According to the Mayo Clinic, “it is a condition in which the flat, pink lining of the esophagus that connects the mouth to the stomach is destroyed by acid reflux” and attributed “most often” to “gastroesophageal reflux”.
According to data from the institution in question, “h people with Barrett’s esophagus have a higher risk of developing cancer of the esophagus”.
Apparently, it’s what Eduin Caz would have been spotted with last November, according to what he said this Saturday, August 26 in Mexico.
“Blessed God, I had an operation”said the artist showing the scars left by the surgeries on his stomach.
“Here we go for shame… I never said why I don’t like to be seen as “oh, poor thing”but I just did a study and let’s go to shame…!” she revealed when she mentioned that she would have beaten the disease.
“Beat Cancer!”shouted his brother Johnny, who was next to him on the stage at the time. Together they celebrated, with the support and fuss of the public, that the singer seems to be free of the dreaded disease.
