The former actor was warned by the broadcaster’s management after violating the rules of the live broadcast
Alexandre Frota issued a warning to Globo after he unauthorizedly revealed a friend’s brand during a participation in the Domingão do Faustão program.
Frota explained that the station “takes contractual and copyright issues very seriously”, and explained that he closed salary deals with advertising bonuses with Boni, then director of the station.
“He has closed a contract several times [Boni] he told me: ‘do this, I’ll pay you a lot and you’ll earn a lot in merch, then put it together and he’ll give you what you want to earn’. I said ‘beauty’,” said Frota, in an interview with the podcast O Pod é Nosso.
The 59-year-old former actor and politician recalled that when he was invited to participate in the Faustão program, he decided to wear a branded T-shirt that his friend had just launched, to advertise the material.
Knowing that the program’s production would ask that you remove your clothes before airing, Frota wore a social garment over it and took off his coat to show branding when it aired.
“When [o Faustão] he said my name, i ripped off my shirt and walked in. I had a black T-shirt made, with the name on it [da marca] in the phosphorescent lemon. I looked at Faustão, he had a green face from the lighting, and as soon as I entered I saw that Faustão was looking at the shirt … Well, I look at all the monitors, there is a super close-up [em meu rosto], I can’t even move my face anymore because I have a super close-up, I couldn’t even see my hair. She interviewed me and I walked away,” she said.
The day after participating in Domingão do Faustão, Frota was called by Globo’s marketing and merchandising director, who punished him for gratuitous and unauthorized disclosure. “I already knew [o que era] and I went [para a reunião]. I sat there in his room, I was blown away by the soap opera, he turned around and said, ‘Hey Frota, how are you? Faustão was good yesterday, right?’ I said “he was nice”. Then he took the tape and hit play. Appears for 15 seconds with the shirt on [e o nome da marca]. He paused and said, “Who did you agree with?” Is this shirt here your brand?’ I said no’. Him: ‘but did you agree with someone from the station? Do you know how much it costs? [divulgação de marca]?’ I said no'”.
And he continued. “He pulled out a bundle of 12 shares [de uma marca de refrigerante] and said: ‘let’s do this, in the soap opera you drive crazy, sign, do’ [a propaganda do refrigerante] and Globo pays you nothing. When I taped all the merch, she called me and said, ‘when you want to set something up, talk to me first to sort it out’,” she concluded.
