The Film Festival denied which actor would be honored at the event
Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara, star of the film series “Colpa mia”, was arrested in Venice, home of the main Italian film festival, on charges of sexual abuse. According to Italian authorities, the young man had an international arrest warrant after being indicted in a case of sexual assault in France.
In a note, the Venice Biennale denied that it will receive an award during the official ceremony, as reported by the Italian press.
“The Venice Biennale would like to point out that the presence in Venice of the Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara, whose arrest has recently been reported by some press sites, is not connected to any activity or production of the 80th International Art Exhibition Cinematographic di Venezia”, informed.
The Spaniard would still receive the award for best young actor, awarded by Filming Italy. In a statement to ANSA, the organization lets it be known that Guevara was at the Lido to be honored “for the popular success” achieved with his characters. However, the organization has suspended all recognition “just in case”, pending a fact-finding.
