On August 1, Yahritza, ‘Mando’ and Jairo held a press conference in that country where they promoted their music through corridos tumbados and concerts.

The boys, who are of Mexican descent but educated by their US parents, performed this Sunday night, September 10, at the Arre Festival at Foro Sol in Mexico City.

It was the group’s first presentation in the country’s capital after the controversy caused by its statements.

According to a review in El Universal newspaper, some of the audience booed them before they went on stage where because it was a festival other acts also played.

“The band came on stage and there was applause, but also the groans from those who felt offended for his words,” the paper described.

A video was published on the X newspaper account (formerly Twitter) in which some people can be seen disapproving of Yahritsa and her Essence.

Mexico, thank you for being here tonight we thank you” said the singer at the beginning of her presentation.

Although the response from the public was ostensibly “friendly”, there were those who expressed their disapproval.

“Let them go” and “out” were some of the cries heard from time to time by the audience, according to El Universal.

I love them very much“Thank you so much,” said the 16-year-old singer, in an act that seemed to “ignore the gossip.”

According to El Universal’s report, “the security elements” of the event “asked the press who were present do not record the disapprovals received by the team“.

The presentation of the youth lasted 40 minutes where the singer tried to be cordial and friendly with the audience. He even came down to greet those in the front rows.

According to the review of the newspaper Reforma, the public is “punished with little support” to the band: “The boos weren’t huge, but neither was the applause,” the report noted.

In his chronicle he described that the scene where the group appeared ” it was far from shining with a full espanadasince a large part of the audience punished them with their indifference and chose to attend the performances in other scenes”.

Reforma assured that “the priest tried to erase the bad image created for them” by giving words of gratitude to those present.

“Thank you, a big hug. Thank you so much for bringing your children, there are many children here. They are appreciated. I love you so much, Mexico, the truth is, I love you,” he expressed.

What did Yahritza and her Essence say about Mexico and its food?

The controversy the group caused began when they were asked by the press in Mexico if they liked the food of the country their parents came from.

I don’t really like the food here. I like what we live better, in Washington. (There) they give it a seasoning that is spicy and tastes good,” Yahritsa said candidly at the beginning of last August.

Then his brother Jairo, 18, added: “For me it’s also the food because I’m a picky eater and eat almost nothing else “chicken”, like wings, that don’t have chili, I don’t like any of them. Also the soda here is like, I don’t know if it’s less sugar or gas, but it tastes different than over there, because there’s a lot of gas there, it burns your throat more.”

After the controversy, they apologized on social networks. They did it again on September 6th at a concert in Monterey, the first of the tour they are currently doing across the country.

This coming September 15, the band will play another concert, which is considered by some Mexican media as their “litmus test”, as it will be free in the capital’s Zócalo adventure and as part of the Independence Day celebrations of this nation. The group was invited by the federal government.
