Kayky Brito presents progressive clinical improvement, new bulletin states

OR actor Kayky Brito34 years old, has shown clinical improvement, but remains in intensive care at the Copa D’Or hospital, in Rio de Janeiro, according to a new medical bulletin on Tuesday 12th.

“The Copa D’Or Hospital informs that patient Kayky Fernandes Brito is showing progressive clinical improvement, but still requires intensive care,” the bulletin reads.

The actor suffered polytrauma after being hit by a car with an app driver in the early hours of September 2, in front of a kiosk, in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.

Accident and investigation

Kayky Brito was accompanied by presenter and friend Bruno de Luca. He was hit by Diones Coelho da Silva while he was going to get something from the car. The app driver attempted to divert, without success. Diones was carrying a passenger and his daughter. According to the passenger’s statement, the driver was not racing at the time of the accident. He also helped the actor.

Diones Coelho da Silva said he was given a car from 99, the platform for which he provided services, to return to work after actor Kayky Brito was hit. Diones raised R$ 178 thousand in a virtual “fundraiser” and will divide the sum between the repair of his vehicle and the donation of essential food baskets.

The driver was taken to the Legal Medical Institute (IML), where he underwent a blood alcohol test, in which, according to the police, no alcohol consumption was found. In a statement to the police, the driver of the vehicle said the actor “suddenly ran across the road.” He also said that he was in the left lane and tried to swerve into the right lane, but was unable to avoid the collision.
