Actor Kayky Brito was released from the hospital this Friday (9/29), after spending nearly three weeks in the hospital after being hit. According to the Copa D’Or hospital, he will undergo rehabilitation at home.
“The Copa D’Or Hospital informs that the patient Kayky Fernandes Brito, hospitalized since September 2, 2023, victim of multiple traumas, was discharged from the hospital this afternoon, with his injuries successfully corrected and able to continue the process of rehabilitation at his residence,” reads the official statement.
Details of the accident
Kayky Brito suffered multiple traumas and traumatic brain injuries after being hit at the 6 petrol station in Barra da Tijuca, in the west of Rio de Janeiro, in the early hours of 2 September.
Security camera videos show that Kayky ran from an unlit spot to cross the busy avenue, without looking at the traffic, and was hit by an app car.
The Military Police confirmed that the driver Diones Coelho da Silva had not consumed alcohol at the time of the accident, was driving at a low speed and provided immediate assistance to the victim. Without fault and with the car damaged, he raised public awareness with an appeal about his lack of conditions to cover the costs of the accident and ended up receiving around R $ 200,000 in an online fundraiser.
Diones said Kayky suddenly crossed the road and was traveling in the left lane when he tried to swerve, sending the car into the right lane. Even so he failed to avoid the collision.
