Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Alexio ‘La Bruja’ has died at the age of 34, some of his friends and associates reported on November 14.
According to the portal Rolling Stone en Español, the singer died this Tuesday “after a long battle against breast cancer”, with which he was diagnosed in 2017.
On November 12, it was revealed that Víctor A. Rivera, the artist’s real name, would be facing health complications due to Arcángel and Anuel AA seeking support for him.
“Donations of blood, platelets and plasma. 40 to 50 people. Location: Guaynabo (Puerto Rico),” they both wrote in an Instagram post.
At the time it was unclear if the request was due to the fact that ‘The Witch’ was suffering from complications stemming from the aforementioned illness.
Alexio ‘The Witch’ is dismissed by his loved ones
One of the first to pay emotional tribute to Alexio ‘La Bruja’ after his death was the famous producer Pepe Quintana.
“My brother, we did not expect this, it surprised us because although we knew your situation, your fighting attitude camouflaged the pain you carried every day,” he noted in a post on the social network.
“As I told you when I saw you: I love you, ‘brother’ and you fulfilled your dream of becoming an artist. Okay, this hurts a lot to me too, you guys are family,” he said.
“Rest in peace my brother, I hope to see you again one day because you are on my favorites list,” he also stated.
For his part, urban artist Benny La Jodienda did the same to his “feed”: “The species is in mourning,” began his letter, which he accompanied with a photo of himself next to Alexio.
“May you rest in peace, my king. You are one of the most special people I have ever met. Your friendship was unconditional,” he noted.
Puerto Rican composer DJ Luian also took to the digital platform to express his thoughts on the loss of the “Voy subiendo” performer.
“18 years ago, more than half of my life, I met you in a studio “Gemex Music”, both with a dream, one that along the way we achieved, I feel so good that you lived with you, I saw growth both music and and personal,” he said.
“Although today many may call it farewell, to me it is a date later, my brother. Thank you very much. (…) I love you, fat!”, he added.
Was Alexio ‘The Witch’ afraid of death?
In 2017, Alexio ‘La Bruja’ gave an interview to Primera Hora in which she revealed the breast cancer she was diagnosed with.
“I am not afraid of death. My biggest fear is leaving the world without accomplishing all the goals I have,” he stated bluntly.
“(I fear) leaving my family without my presence, without my protection, without my help in whatever problem they have, but not to fear death, because we will all die at the given time,” he confessed.
Also known as ‘The Beast’, he collaborated with many figures including Daddy Yankee, Nicky Jam, Ozuna, Farruko, Zion and the aforementioned Arcángel and Anuel AA.
