Carlos Lyra composed hits such as ‘Coisa mais beautiful’, ‘Minha Girl’, ‘Primavera’, ‘Sabe Você’ and ‘Você e Eu’
Carlos Lyrasinger and songwriter partner of Vinicio de Moraes, Ronaldo Boscoli and other bossa nova artists, died at the age of 90 in the early hours of Saturday (16th), in Rio de Janeiro.
The melodist is the author of hits such as The most beautiful thing, my girl, Spring, you know, you and me. He was admitted to a hospital in Barra da Tijuca on Thursday (14th) with a fever, but the cause of his death was not disclosed.
“It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of composer Carlos Lyra unexpectedly this morning. We thank everyone for your kindness”, appears in a statement released on his social profile.
The musician’s body, however, only rests on Sunday (17th), from 10am to 2pm, at the Memorial do Carmo. The ceremony will be reserved for Lyra’s family and friends.
