On Sunday, 19, the Carlos Drummond de Andrade Cultural Foundation (FCCDA) announced the cancellation of Johnny Hooker’s performance at the 48th Itabira Winter Festival. This Monday, 20, the singer used his Instagram profile to explain why he no longer performs in the city of Minas Gerais.
“I am currently in Europe touring seven countries, with a visit to the Rock in Rio Lisbon (where, on the day of the show, I will be the only representative of Brazil along with Anitta). I am here to represent the best of Brazil; ours music, our art and our culture, “said the artist in a statement.
Johnny Hooker explained that new commitments have appeared in his schedule and this made it necessary to extend his stay outside the country.
“New commitments and opportunities have arisen and I will have to extend my stay here. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my show at the Itabira Winter Festival,” he continued.
“I reiterate that the production of the festival has been wonderful with us and I have tried until the last moment to adapt this show to my schedule. I apologize to my fans of Itabira and I look forward to being able to sing for you in the land of one of the greatest Brazilian poets, Carlos Drummond de Andrade. The cancellation will not entail any burden for the FCCDA “.
The foundation also reiterated that the cancellation of the Johnny Hooker show will not lead to any other changes to the festival and that “all other artists and events are duly confirmed”.
