Last Friday, July 24, the Yermolova Theater presented to the public a new event called “Yermolovsky Circle” – a special holiday during which the audience and artists could become closer to each other. To establish such informal communication, an appropriate atmosphere was created: the wardrobe turned into a bar decorated with costumes from the performances, tables were set in the lobby, candles were lit, and instead of the usual bells, music played in the hall. In the first part, she was replaced by actress Natasha Gorbas, who performed jazz improvisations. The musicians of Oleg Menshikov’s orchestra and the actor Andrey Popov helped her in this. And immediately after the jazz overture, the presentation of the 9th independent theater award named after Andrei Lobanov took place. In the nomination “Best Actress” won Christina Asmus, who performed Katerina Izmailova in the play “Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District”. The prize for “Best Actor” was taken by the Honored Artist of Russia Boris Mironov, who played Creon in the play “Antigone”. Vladimir Kimmelman, who directed Antigone, was recognized as the best director. In the nomination “For Contribution to the Development of Culture and Art”, the award was given to the legendary actor, clown, director – People’s Artist of Russia Slava Polunin.

Meanwhile, audiences were working in the foyer, where Oleg Menshikov, Kristina Asmus, Daria Melnikova, Stasya Miloslavskaya, Alexander Petrov, Natasha Gorbas, Andrey Popov and Philip Yershov took tests from the audience in theatrical disciplines: acting, stage speech, dance, vocals and colloquium. Those who were able to pass a rigorous selection and get all the “tests” took part in the drawing of invitations to the premiere of the next theatrical season – the play “Peer. Gynt. Fairy Tale for Adults directed by Vladimir Kimmelman.

The second act began with a theatrical skit, and after that, an “Emergency Entry” took place: the audience, under the direction of Christina Asmus, were able to replace the artists in scenes from the performances. Celebrities watched their game from the auditorium, among whom were Danila Kozlovsky, Svetlana Bondarchuk, Elena Letuchaya, Anna Ardova, Mitya Fomin, Alexander Tsypkin, Maria Alexandrova, Vladislav Lantratov and others
Today we are trying for the first time to outline the “Yermolovsky Circle” so that next season, given today’s mistakes, we will hold this event regularly. Now, as it seems to us, we need to hug and support each other. In this difficult time,” said the artistic director of the theater and the ideological inspirer of the event, Oleg Menshikov.
