Anderson Marttus wants to use the visibility of the luxury event taking place in Rio to strengthen the gay rights agenda

This Sunday (31st), at the Hotel Vila Galé, in the center of Rio, Miss Distrito Federal Gay will take place. The champion guarantees a place in Miss Brasil Gay 2024, which will take place in August in the city of Juiz de Fora (MG).

The coordinator of this phase of the competition is the designer Anderson Marttus, famous for his atelier of luxurious Carnival costumes. “The winner receives R $ 5,000, a zircon and white gold crown, as well as travel and accommodation to participate in the national competition,” he explains.

“As a rule, all candidates are male makeover artists who present themselves as women through makeup and other features.”

Anderson emphasizes the social aspect of the event. “The Miss Brasil Gay competition has become an instrument of struggle for homosexual rights and the fight against intolerance,” she says.

The current Miss Gay Brazil, Muriel Lorensoni, will be present at the Rio ceremony. Among the judges there is a dancer, a stylist, a make-up artist and a psychologist.
